Now 2000 rupees are hardly visible in the country. They have to be deposited in the bank by 30 September. RBI has recently announced to take back the 2000 rupee note in the system. Under the clean note policy, all banks will exchange and deposit Rs 2000 notes. But, after withdrawing the Rs 2000 note, will RBI issue a new Rs 1000 note or will the Rs 500 note be the biggest bank note in the country. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has told the complete plan on this question.
RBI Governor said – There is no proposal to bring a new note of 1000 rupees. This is kind of a tricky question. At present this should not be discussed. He said that there are enough notes of other denominations in the market. 2000 rupee note will also remain legal tender for the time being. There is a chance to exchange notes till 30 September. After that we will see what to do.
