During the summer, itchy skin, acne, body odour, and dehydration are all common problems. Simple hygiene measures can help to address and prevent these issues. So let us tell you what to do if you experience any of these issues!
Here are some easy hacks and DIY solutions to help you go through these prickly heat summers.
Heat rash occurs when a duct leading from a sweat gland to the skin's surface becomes blocked or inflamed. This then closes the sweat duct opening on the skin's surface (sweat pore). Sweat is trapped beneath the skin instead of evaporating, causing irritation and bumps.
Solution- Try to keep your Body hydrated. Take Vitamin C juices as it allows skin to heal faster. You can also apply coconut oil to your rashes and leave overnight. This will soothe the skin and help you heal faster.
Most of the time, it's due to increased oil production, sweating, and increased pore clogging caused by warmer temperatures." Hotter weather doesn't seem to deter us from applying sunscreen, lotion, body butter, or oil to keep our skin glowing and moisturised.
Solution- Stay away from kitchen DIY’s and try to contact dermatologists. As not all natural ingredients are safe on skin and not all synthetic things are toxic. You can consult your doctor and try to include antifungal and bacterial face wash to thoroughly clean your face. Also ‘DON’T MISS ON MOISTURISER’.
Body odour happens when sweat meets the bacteria on the surface of the skin which leads to an unpleasant smell. While sweat is the body's natural way of regulating temperature during summers and is virtually odourless, bacteria present on the skin use it as a breeding ground.
Solution- Take Bath at least twice a day. You can put some essential oils or even dettol in your bathing water to add more fragrance and fight the germs and bacterias.
Sunburns are caused by UVB radiation, which burns the upper layers of skin (the epidermis). Tans are caused by UVA radiation. UVA rays penetrate the epidermis to the lower layers, where they stimulate melanocytes (pronounced mel-an-oh-sites) to produce melanin. Melanin is the brown pigment responsible for tanning.
Solution- do not forget sunscreen indoors and outdoors. Your sunscreen should also have SPF along with PAAA as it protects skin from UVA and UVB rays.
Dehydration is common in the summer due to factors such as insufficient water intake and spending too much time outside in the heat. The condition is more common in the summer because the body loses a lot of water through perspiration.
Solution- Keep your body hydrated with water and try to include infused water with the goodness of cucumber, vitamin c rich fruits and more. Also eat more of Vitamin C food to maintain the body's water levels.
