6G is coming in India! | Jagran Business

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched both the official 6G testbed project to enable research on new network technologies and India's 6G mission, which visualises a concentrated initiative for the country's next-generation technology.

The Bharat 6G project has been started by the government, and an apex council has been chosen to manage it. With 1.2 billion digital subscribers, India is the second-largest telecom market in the world.

Speaking at the occasion, Modi said that India's digital economy developed 2.5 times faster than the country's overall economy during the past nine years, which he described as an extraordinary digital leap.

6G supply chains

To develop a vision for the 6G road map in India, the government established a 22-member innovation committee in November 2021 under the leadership of Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman. India's aspirations to gain a significant foothold in the global supply chain for cutting-edge technologies, such as satellite and terrestrial communication equipment and components, include opening up 6G airwaves. A group of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), including Guwahati and Madras, are developing the new 6G testbed together.
