Adah Sharma: From being nominated as the best actor female debut for her first bollywood movie, 1920 a supernatural thriller to winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the most promising actor for her performance in one of the most controversial releases, the Kerela Story, the terrain of the entertainment industry have been a constant low and high tide for this actress, and yet she has been going strong and winning hearts with her skills and personality.
Adah Sharma was born to a captain in the Merchant Navy, S.L Sharma, and an Indian classical dancer and Malakhambha yoga practitioner, Sheila Sharma. Hailing from Mumbai, she is versed in Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu which she picked up from working in Tollywood.

Being a creative child, Sharma’s interests inclined towards dancing, yoga, and performative arts since childhood. She completed her higher studies at Auxilium Convent High School only because her parents persisted on her completing her studies.

Her prowess lies in gymnastics, dance, and acting. She is a graduate of Kathak from the Natraj Gopi Krishan Kathak Dance Academy and has learned Salsa from the US, with a knack for belly dancing, ballet, and jazz.

Adah made her debut in Bollywood in the 2009 horror thriller ‘1920’ by Vikram Bhatt opposite Rajneesh Duggal. Though her debut movie was a commercial success, the following movies ‘Phirr’ (2011) and ‘Hum Hai Rahi Car Ke’ (2013) were a commercial flop. She was then working in the Telugu cinema, before arriving back on the silver screen with Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Hasee To Phasee’.

In 2013, she amazed the fans with her action-packed performance in Vidyut Jammwa’s ‘Commando 2’ and continued to be a part of the third installment of the franchise ‘Commando 3’ (2019).

Most recently, Adah’s acting finesse was apparent in ‘The Kerela Story’ (2023), the movie that made several headlines for being controversial and propagandist.
After her bouts of highs and lows, Adha took the challenge of working in a new language in a different industry, but her hard work shone there too. She started her journey in 2014 with a Telugu film ‘Heart Attack’ opposite Nithiin. There was no going back for her then. She worked with Allu Arjun in S/O Satyamurthy, Rana Vikrama, and Subramanyam for Sale.
She received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress Debut in 2009. She was the Exciting New Face- Female at the Stardust Awards, and won the Iconic Gold Awards for the Best Actress of the Year- Critics Choice 2024 for ‘The Kerela Story’.
She was honored with the Most Promising Actress Award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Awards 2024 for her performance in ‘The Kerela Story’.
