Anemia: Anemia is a disorder in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to transport sufficient oxygen to tissues, resulting in weariness and weakness. Common symptoms include chronic fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, pale complexion, headaches, and cold hands or feet. Severe cases may also result in chest discomfort or a fast heartbeat. To control anemia, particularly iron-deficiency anemia, it is critical to incorporate iron-rich foods into the diet. In this video, Nutritionist Dr. Charu Dua recommends diet tips to manage anemia and lead a healthy life.
Maintain an iron-rich diet by including green leafy vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek, cardamom, pomegranate, and beetroot. Non-vegetarians can obtain plenty of iron from organ meats and red meats. Vegetarians should eat iron-rich foods. Leafy greens, beans, lentils, tofu, and fortified cereals are all good sources. Combining them with vitamin C-rich meals such as citrus fruits or bell peppers helps boost iron absorption.
