Animal Movie Review: Ranbir Kapoor’s Gripping Alpha-Male Character Jolts Theatres, Film Eyes for Rs 100 Cr Opening

Animal Movie Twitter Review: Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ has finally hit the theatres with an explosive and thunderous roar, creating shivers with the dreadful storyline and strong performances given by the ensemble cast. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie has a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, opposite Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and others. The storyline narrates the toxic and unsettled relationship between a father and a son, where the father fails to give love and attention to his son in his growing days, leading to a traumatic and brutal breakdown of the son which makes him a “violent maniac.” However, despite this, the son has utter respect and love for his father and threatens mankind to keep him safe and sound.

The plot centers on Ranvijay (Ranbir Kapoor) and his godlike-figure father Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), who has been abandoned by his “always busy papa” in his young days. The film has highlighted the cryptic men-mentality and the male dominance in Punjabi households. Before his revenge-driven behaviour becomes the ultimate plot, the first half of the movie shows the rural regions of Punjab dominated by men, a battlefield of power and status. Ranvijay lives with his wife Geetanjali (Rashmika Mandanna) in the United States, after getting married in a temple in the mountains. However, he soon returns to India with his wife and children soon after his father gets attacked. The incident changes Ranvijay and he vows to take vengeance on Abrar Haque (Bobby Deol), revealing a deadly side of Ranvijay who mercilessly kills his father’s attackers.

The movie has intense and violent scenes, where Ranbir Kapoor is seen firing a barrel machine gun at hundreds of people with an evil demeanour, the thunderous roar of bazooka firings, with a total bloodbath in the land of Punjab. If you hate to see women not taking their stand and suffering because of the typical patriarchal-thinking men, this movie may trigger you with some of its scenes where Ranbir Kapoor is said to be behaving like an utterly toxic man with Rashmika Mandanna. For the record, she sometimes proves to be taking the upper hand while handling Ranbir, but this is nothing compared to what she endures. All in all, the movie follows a typical Bollywood narrative with more action-driven scenes and the tough emotional aspects between a father and a son, but the duration has totally ruined the flawless performances, which could majorly affect the movie’s upcoming box office success.

While the story is bleak and nothing new, the stunning performances by Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol have taken ‘X’ to another level of craze among the fans, who are completely awestruck with Ranbir’s fierce performance as Ranvijay, and the never-quenching thirst of revenge until he makes a bloodbath of bodies. See how twitter reacted.
