The current chief minister of Telangana, Anumula Revanth Reddy was born on November 8, 1969, in Mehboobnagar district of Telangana to Anumula Narasimha Reddy and Anumula Ramachandramma. He pursued graduate studies in arts from A.V. College, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
He tied the knot with the niece of the former union minister Jaipal Reddy, Geetha. The couple has been blessed with a daughter.
Reddy is an active member of the Indian Congress Party and took the oath as the current chief minister of Telangana on 7 December, 23.
2006
His steps treaded towards politics while he was a student. As a member of the ABVP party, he contested the election of the local body and won as an independent candidate elected as a ZPTC member from Midjil mandal in 2006.
Before joining any party like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of Chandrababu Naidu in 2007, he was an independent candidate as a Member of the Legislative Council.
2009
TDP got him his first constituency win in the Kodangal constituency, Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He was the MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from year 2009 to 2014. In the undivided Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, he was elected as a floor leader to the Telangana assembly with a majority. He left the TDP as a floor leader after serving the role for four years.
2017
He joined the Congress party in October 2017 and lost his first elections as a Congress party leader in the Telangana Assembly election of 2018 against Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti. This was also his maiden loss in any of the elections he was a part of as a candidate.
2019
2019 was the year of triumph for Reddy when he won with a margin of about 11,000 votes in the general election from Malkajigiri Lok Sabha Constituency.
2021
Reddy moved into new shoes as the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in July 2021.
2023
2023 has been his biggest achievement so far, where he contested and campaigned against the incumbent Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in the State Legislative Assembly Election. His party won 64 seats contesting from the Kondangal and Kamareddy constituencies.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, following a resolution by elected MLAs. This authorized the AICC to nominate him as the Chief Minister of Telangana, and on 7 December 2023, he took the oath as the second person to hold this position.
