Automobile News: The Delhi government has implemented a new rule that will affect owners of automobiles older than 15 years. Beginning April 1, fuel stations in the city will no longer fill up such vehicles as part of an effort to reduce pollution. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Environment Minister, claimed that the information will be forwarded to the Central Petroleum Ministry shortly. To enforce the law, petrol pumps will be provided with AI-powered devices capable of detecting and preventing older vehicles from fuelling.
Additionally, the Delhi government is increasing efforts to minimize pollution by converting to electric public transportation. Minister Sirsa claimed that by December 2025, roughly 90% of the city’s public CNG buses would be replaced by electric buses. Advanced AI-enabled surveillance will also play an important role in enforcement, with cameras installed across the city to detect vehicles which does not have a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. These vehicles will be denied fuel at gas stations. Furthermore, government personnel will be dispatched to prevent non-compliant vehicles from entering the city and remove those that are already there.
