Automobile News: The government has laid out criteria for car safety ratings, taking a huge step ahead in road safety in India and how vehicle safety is being enhanced. The government has introduced the Bharat NCAP rating system, which will go into effect on October 1. According to sources, car safety ratings will be determined based on a car crash test, and car companies will be responsible for the expense of this crash test rating.
Crash testing will be undertaken at the expense of automobile manufacturers under Bharat NCAP, according to the procedure outlined in Automotive Industry Standard 197. Cars will be rated for safety based on the results of this test. This program is only applicable to passenger cars with more than eight seats. Only cars with a gross weight of up to 3,500 kg and the base model of a specific variation will be examined under this program. Currently, the car crash test will be conducted at random. These new Bharat NCAP criteria will apply to both local and imported vehicles.
