Bigg Boss 18: Salman Khan hosted reality show Bigg Boss 18 is set to premier on television on 6 October. As the date approaches, the anticipation is palpable of what the new season holds for the contestants and audience. This season’s theme ‘Time Ka Tandav’ hints at the emphasis on time, be it time-bound tasks or a look at the present, past, and future of the contestants. 

In the list of confirmed contestants so far a new name has been added. Chum Darang, an actor and model from Arunachal Pradesh is reported to enter the BB house this year. Know who Chum Darang is, the actress who played a lesbian on screen in her biography.

Who is Chum Darang?

Hailing from the naturally and culturally rich Arunachal Pradesh, Chum Darang is a model, actor, social activist, and entrepreneur. She is best known for her role of Rimjhim, Bhumi Pednekar’s love interest in the film ‘Badhaai Do’ which explores the concept of lavender marriages in the LGBTQIA+ community.

About Chum Darang’s Family 

Chum was born to Tajeep Darang and Yamik Dulom Darang, Chum is the second child of her parents with 3 more siblings in their family of six members. Her elder sister is Mitu Darang with two younger brothers named Tabit Darang and Ninong Darang.

Journey in pageantry 

Darang aspired to be a teacher when she was young, but life had bigger plans for her. At the age of 16, she experienced the world of beauty pageants in 2007.

In 2010, she participated and won the Miss AAPSU 2010 catapulting her career into modeling and pageantry. A holder of many beauty pageant titles, she has been a finalist of North East Diva 2014, followed by the title of Miss Earth India Water 2016 at the Miss Earth India 2016. 

Subsequently, she secured the fifth position at Miss Asia World 2017 winning the Miss Internet sub-title; Miss Sports Gear" and "Miss Best National costume sub-titles at Tiara India International 2017. 

Chum Darang has since Badhaai Do made brief appearances in Prime Video shows ‘Paatak Lok’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. 

Beyond films, she is a successful entrepreneur running her own cafe ‘Cafe Chu’ in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. She is also a social activist recognized by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh for her commendable work for the marginalized and needy. 

Chum Darang will indeed add a unique flavor to the house of chaos, drama, and controversies.
