Responding to the CAG report being cited by some quarters on the expenditure on security of Indian Railways, government sources on Monday said that selective information of the report is being used wrongly. Railways will soon reply on this in Parliament. 

Expenditure on all projects of Indian Railways, including safety related works, is financed from three major sources. Gross budgetary support, internal accruals of Indian Railways and external borrowings are the three major sources of funding. The government had set up a dedicated non-lapsable fund, the Rashtriya Rail Suraksha Kosh (RRSK), in 2017 for critical safety-related works.

In this, a limit of Rs 1 lakh crore was fixed to be used over a period of five years from 2017-18. Rashtriya Rail Suraksha Kosh (RRSK) was established.
