BRICS Summit 2024: PM Modi Emphasizes Global Developmental Issues

BRICS Summit 2024: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Kazan, Russia for the 16th edition of the BRICS summit, this year chaired by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, a group started in 2006 to challenge the monopoly of the West in politics and economy. 

Points emphasized by PM Modi 

With a diverse group of countries coming together, the summit will pay more focus on global politics and the ongoing Gaza conflict. PM Modi has further emphasized the significance of close cooperation in the BRICS as the group aims to expand it to foster inclusivity. Additionally, matters of global importance like climate change and geopolitical tensions are also on the list.
