Budget 2024: Centre starts preparations for the Upcoming Budget Session

Budget 2024 News:  The preparations for the upcoming general budget for fiscal year 2024-25 have begun. The Finance Ministry will shortly begin meetings to discuss budget agendas beginning October 10 till November 14. According to a meeting notice by the Finance Ministry’s Budget Division, a pre-budget meeting between the Finance Secretary and Secretary (Expenditure) will begin on October 10, 2023, to finalise RE (Revised Estimates) regarding grants/appropriation 2023-24 and BE (Budget Expectation) 2024-25. 

 

What to Expect From Budget 2024?

Following the pre-budget meeting, the budget projections for 2024-25 will be tentatively finalised. The current fiscal year’s budget predicted a modest 10.5 percent growth rate, with a fiscal deficit of 5.9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The interim budget for 2024-25 is expected to be released on February 1 due to the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 2024. The comprehensive budget for fiscal year 2025 will be revealed upon the establishment of the new government following the general elections.
