Business News: US President Donald Trump has formally announced the “Gold Card” or “Gold Visa” scheme, a high-value immigration initiative intended for affluent persons, via the website trumpcard.gov. Marketed as “Green Card Privilege Plus,” this premium program is an enhanced version of the existing EB-5 visa, providing a more simplified road to permanent residency in the United States without the need to create jobs or invest in specific American firms. While the scheme demands a $5 billion investment (roughly Rs 41 crore), it does not promise immediate citizenship, contrary to popular belief. To join a waiting list, applicants must first register on the official website.
Although the project was first announced on Trump’s social media platform in February, registrations are currently limited to early sign-ups, and the card itself is not yet available for purchase. Interested parties can go to the website and provide their personal and application information, including projected residence benefits (individual or family), before receiving a verification number for registration. Upon successful submission, applicants will receive a confirmation message indicating that their journey to US residency has started. The program has attracted a lot of interest due to its exclusivity and high financial requirements.
