Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. It is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is a sexually transmitted infection. HPV is a common virus that can cause changes in the cervical cells, leading to the development of cervical cancer over time.

Having a weak immune system

Smoking

Using birth control pills for a long time

Having a family history of cervical cancer

Common symptoms

Vaginal bleeding between periods or after sexual intercourse

Menstrual periods that are heavier or longer than usual

It is important to note that these symptoms can also be caused by other conditions so it is important to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis. Regular Pap tests and HPV tests can detect cervical cancer in its early stages, when it is most treatable.
