China-Taiwan Tensions: Amid rising tensions with China, Taiwan is looking to India for defence cooperation. The island nation has indicated an interest in acquiring the advanced D4 anti-drone technology, which was developed jointly by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics Limited. This decision comes in response to increased concerns over China’s expanding drone operations, which have prompted Taiwan to strengthen its border security.

Agreement Between India and Taiwan

A DRDO official acknowledged Taiwan’s request, citing the D4 system's growing global recognition as an efficient fighting option. According to the official, a successful agreement might pave the way for deeper defence collaboration between India and Taiwan, including the cooperative development of next-generation counter-drone technologies. Furthermore, India’s strategic involvement with Taiwan might provide a significant counterbalance to China’s assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific, potentially changing the region’s security picture.
