Chirag Paswan Biography: Following the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony took place on 9th June 2024, on Sunday. Narendra Modi was elected as the Prime Minister for the third time. Apart from PM Modi, 71 ministers also took the oath in the new coalition government. Out of 71 ministers, thirty are Cabinet Ministers, five independent charges, and 36 Ministers of State. One of them is Chirag Paswan, who secured a ministerial position in Modi’s 3.0 cabinet. After serving as a chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) for almost a decade, Chirag Paswan is gearing up for a new responsibility in the new Modi Govt.

Chirag Paswan was born on October 31, 1982, to the late Ram Vilas Paswan, a former Union Minister and the founder of the Lok Janshakti Party from Bihar. His mother is Reena Sharma, a Punjabi Hindu air hostess from Amritsar. Chirag Paswan is a third-semester college dropout with a computer engineering degree. After dropping out of college, he wanted to become an aspiring actor and appeared opposite Kangana Ranaut in the Hindi film ‘Miley Naa Miley Hum’ (2011). However, the movie didn’t make much impact at the box office, hence starting the political career of Paswan.

Paswan was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014, representing the Jamui constituency in Bihar, while his father won the Hajipur constituency under the Lok Janshakti Party banner.
Paswan ran and won the 2014 Jamui election, defeating Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Sudhansu Shekhar Bhaskar by more than 85,000 votes. He retained his seat in the 2019 elections, securing 528,771 votes and defeating his closest rival, Bhudeo Choudhary.
Chirag Kumar Paswan became the first president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) in 2021.
He served as the Lok Janshakti Party's second president from 2019 to 2021 and has been a Member of Parliament for the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency since 2024.
Paswan runs 'Chirag Ka Rojgar', an NGO that focuses on providing employment opportunities for his state's youth.
In the run-up to the 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections, Chirag Paswan launched the 'Bihar First, Bihari First' campaign to engage the state's youth and promote development.
On February 27, 2021, Paswan donated Rs 1.11 lakh to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
On June 14, 2021, his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, succeeded him as the Lok Sabha leader of the LJP. The next day, Chirag expelled five rebel MPs, including his uncle and cousin Prince Raj, for anti-party activities.
