Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (29 Years and counting)

DDLJ, one of the most talked about Bollywood movies of all time, has the longest running time of 29 years and still counting. The film was released on October 20, 1995, and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, as well as Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, and Satish Shah in key roles. The film tells the story of Raj and Simran, who fall in love on a European trip. Their love faces obstacles from Simran’s strict father, who has already arranged her marriage to a family friend's son in India.

Mughal-e-Azam (3 Years)

The classic film, which was released on August 5, 1960, starred Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote and remained in theaters for 150 weeks. This epic historical drama takes place during the Mughal era and depicts the passionate love affair between Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali.

Barsaat (2 Years)

Starring Raj Kapoor, Nargis Dutt, Prem Nath, and Nimmi, the movie has a runtime of 100 weeks. The film, released on April 21, 1949, weaves together the stories of two couples with themes of love, sacrifice, and societal expectations, focusing on the characters' emotional journeys.

Kismet (3.5 Years)

Kismet (1943), released on January 9, 1943, has a running time of 182 weeks in the theatres. The film stars Ashok Kumar, Mumtaz Shanti, and Shah Nawaz. The film follows a pickpocket who decides to change his ways after falling in love with a woman. However, his past transgressions catch up with him, resulting in a series of dramatic events involving misplaced identities, sacrifices, and a quest for redemption.

Sholay (5 Years)

Sholay has the second-longest running time of 286 weeks after DDLJ. The popular movie was released on August 15, 1975, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri, and Amjad Khan. The film is a blend of action, drama, and friendship, and it is well-known for its iconic dialogues and memorable performances, cementing its place as an Indian cinema classic.
