Methods of Contraception have emerged as a life changing method for women. Different types of contraceptive measures help them to plan pregnancy when ready, enjoy  intercoruce without tension of unwanted pregnancy and even reduce the risks of STDs. Some contraceptive pills are also used during the treatment of PCOD and PCOS. What are Contraceptive Methods? 

Birth control methods which are also known as contraception, anticonception, and fertility control are various methods through which people can prevent pregnancy. While the methods of Birth Control have been followed from ancient types, some of the most effective measures were only available in the 20th Century.  

Types of Contraceptive Methods-

Here are the different types of birth control methods which can be used by women and men for safer sex. 

• Condom- The most common contraceptive method which is used by both men and women. While men condoms are usually preferred the most, there are female condoms too which can be as effective as male ones. Condoms are also helpful in avoiding STDs. 

• The Oral Contraceptive Pill- Emergency pills or Contraceptive pills includes a combination of an estrogen and a progestogen which help in avoiding pregnancy. 

• Intrauterine Device (IUD)-  Also known as intrauterine contraceptive device or coil, is a small, often T-shaped birth control device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. 

• The Contraceptive Implant- A contraceptive implant is an implantable medical device used for the purpose of birth control. 

• The Contraceptive Injection- The contraceptive injection releases the hormone progestogen into your bloodstream to prevent pregnancy. 

• Emergency Contraception Pill (The 'Morning After' Pill)- contains levonorgestrel, a synthetic (man-made) version of the natural hormone progesterone produced by the ovaries.

• Contraceptive Ring- The vaginal ring is a hormonal birth control (contraceptive) device for women. 

• Diaphragm-  Form of birth control that's a shallow cup shaped like a little saucer that's made of soft silicone.
