BackTushar Mehta reappointed as Solicitor General of India
Tushar Mehta has been reappointed as the Indian government's solicitor general, and the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval. After the Attorney General, the Solicitor General is the most senior legal official. The Cabinet's Appointments Committee also gave its approval for the reappointment of six more legal professionals to the position of more Solicitor General for the Supreme Court for a period of three years: Vikramjit Banerjee, KM Nataraj, Balbir Singh, SV Raju, N Venkataraman, and Aishwarya Bhati. Mehta was first appointed as Solicitor General in October 2018; his tenure was thereafter periodically extended.

Sharad Pawar's older brother Anantrao is the father of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, who took the oath of office as Maharashtra's deputy chief minister after joining the Eknath Shinde-led administration. In 1982, he entered politics for the first time by winning a seat on the board of a sugar cooperative.
