Mrutyunjay Mohapatra elected 3rd VP of World Meteorological Organisation
Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the director general of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), was chosen on Thursday to serve as one of the three vice presidents of the World Meteorological Organisation, a UN body that keeps track of climate change and issues alerts for impending disasters.c Abdulla Al Mandous, the director of the United Arab Emirates National Centre of Meteorology, was elected WMO President for a four-year term at the WMO elections conducted on Thursday in Geneva.
