Scientists have discovered a new species of gliding gecko in the state of Mizoram, an incredible discovery that improves the region's rich biodiversity. The Mizoram parachute gecko (Gekko mizoramensis), a newly discovered lizard, is one of the 14 geckos in the world with a reputation for being able to fly. This novel species, which measures around 20 cm in length, is nocturnal, arboreal (dwelling in trees), and it glides from one tree to another. Those that can be seen in residential areas are typically found on building outside walls. Webbed limbs and flat tails enable flying geckos to glide.
