Swaminathan Janakiraman appointed as new RBI deputy governor
Swaminathan Janakiraman has been chosen by the Indian government as the RBI's deputy governor. Janakiraman's appointment is for a term of three years beginning on the day of joining, or until any additional orders are granted, according to an official notification. Mahesh Kumar Jain, whose term ends on June 22, will be replaced by him. At the moment, Swaminathan Janakiraman is the Managing Director of the Corporate Banking and Subsidiaries division at the State Bank of India (SBI). Prior to this, he was in charge of the assurance operations for the bank, which encompassed the risk management, regulatory compliance, and stressed assets verticals.
