Cushing Syndrome: Anant Ambani has been in the headlines recently for undergoing a spiritual journey on foot from Jamnagar to Dwarka on his 30th birthday. Anant walked a distance of 170-kilometer which made people wonder how he achieved it with his current body weight, and what is the cause for it.
Anant Ambani suffers from a hormonal disorder called the crushing syndrome, caused due to hypercortisolism or chronically high levels of the hormone cortisol. The syndrome is more common in women but can occur in people during adolescence.
Cushing syndromes can result in weight gain, especially on the face, neck, trunk, and upper body, fatigue, muscle weakness, hypertension, excessive hair or hair loss, diabetes, and easy bruising. The most common cause of Cushing syndrome is long-term and high-dose use of glucocorticoid medications or pituitary tumors.
