Earthquake in India: Tremors felt in Delhi-NCR and other states, 5.9 magnitude recorded

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake with tremors was detected in Srinagar and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir as well as 70 km southeast of Afghanistan at around 10:19 am. Many states of the country have experienced earthquake shocks. Jammu as well as Punjab-Haryana have also experienced these shocks. According to reports, Afghanistan’s Faizabad was the earthquake’s epicentre. Faizabad has had an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9. 

According to the National Seismic Monitoring in Islamabad, the earthquake's epicentre occurred in the border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan and it originated at a depth of 223 kilometres, significantly reducing its deadly effects. Tremors were also felt in Srinagar and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. The quake was reported at 11:19 am at "Lat: 36.56 & Long: 71.13, Depth: 220 Km" in Afghanistan, the National Center for Seismology said.
