Delhi’s Next CM: The landslide victory of BJP in the Delhi Election 2025 dethroned Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadami Party ruling the national capital since 2013. The historic win of PM Modi-led BJP in Delhi came after 27 years with 48 seats to their credit whereas AAP could only secure 22.
After BJP’s rise to power in the capital city, the new cabinet and CM of the city will be elected on 20 February with a grand oath-taking ceremony in Ram Leela Maidan at 4:30 PM, said to be attended by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Minister Amit Shah.
Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony, several names from the BJP party have been highlighted to compete strongly for the post of Chief Minister in Delhi. Let’s take a look at all the tentative candidates.
The tenure of the last serving party, i.e. AAP ends on 23 February meaning that the new cabinet will soon replace the long-lasting rule of Kejriwal’s party, setting them to the chairs of Oppositions.
After the electoral win of the Bhartiya Janta Party, several names have been circulating with a high potential to be elected the next CM of Delhi.
Among the list of tentative candidates, a prominent name is Parvesh Verma, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency. Verma is also the son of former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma.
