After the Supreme Court's rebuke, Delhi Police can again issue notice to Nupur Sharma for questioning. Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma is accused of making controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad. Several FIRs have been registered against her in this case. After the FIR was registered against Nupur Sharma, Delhi Police had sent a notice to Nupur Sharma to join the investigation under 41A.After this the police had also recorded Nupur Sharma's statement on 18 June 2022.
The Supreme Court said, "What action has been taken in the FIR registered in Delhi? Here, perhaps the police have laid a red carpet for you? You are getting special status. But such status will not be available in the court. Go in and make your point, get bail from the lower court."
The Supreme Court on Friday strongly reprimanded Nupur Sharma in the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad and said that she should apologise to the country for this. Justice Surya Kant and Justice J.B.The Vacation Bench of Pardiwala, with these strong remarks, also dismissed Nupur Sharma's plea seeking transfer of the cases registered against her across the country to Delhi.
The bench also expressed displeasure with the concerned television channel for holding discussion on the Gyanvapi Masjid dispute in Uttar Pradesh, which is pending before the trial court.Nupur Sharma was among those who participated in the same program discussion.
The bench, while making stern comments, said that we have seen the debate. In what manner were the comments made inciting the nation during the debate. Only that woman is responsible for this. Being a lawyer the way he was instigated is even more shameful. She should apologise to the whole country.
