Vastu tips to set up puja altar 

First is the direction in which the idols should be placed. The best direction for placing the Laxmi-Ganesh idol is North-east as per Vastu. The face of goddess Laxmi should be in the northeast direction, and Lord Ganesh should always be placed on the right hand of the goddess.

The lighting of Diyas should be in odd numbers seven or nine for the puja. These diyas too should be placed facing the north-east direction.
