DA Hike: With a huge announcement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, the central employees will be getting a 4 percent increase in the dearness allowance as a Diwali Gift, increasing the DA from 42 percent to 46 percent. This move is projected to benefit around 1 lakh central employees and pensioners in the country, with a significant rise in their salary and pension. The move to raise DA, on the other hand, will cost the government Rs 12,857 crore.
The rise in dearness allowance was approved at a cabinet meeting on October 18. There is a possibility that the central staff and pensioners would get their October salaries with the increased dearness allowance. The central staff and pensioners might get their July-September balance in addition to their October income. Dearness Allowance is a significant component of central employees’ salaries. Twice a year, the government modifies DA. The employees begin receiving its benefits on January 1 and July 1 of each year.
