Biography:  Ekta Kapoor is a household name in the Indian film and television industry. She has 130 plus widely popular TV serials and more than 30 movies produced under her discography. She is a television and film producer and director whose influence on Indian television has been groundbreaking. She has been honored with the Directorate Award in the 51st Emmy International Awards. 

Family 

Ekta Ravi Kapoor was born on June 7, 1975, to Indian actor Jeetendra Kapoor and Indian Producer Shoba Kapoor. Her brother Tusshar Kapoor is an Indian actor, with multiple roles to name. 

Though the Emmy award winner has not yet decided to tie the knot with anyone, she has a son called Ravie as a surrogate mother. 

Education 

Kapoor spent the early years of her education at Bombay Scottish High School in Maharashtra and graduated with a degree in commerce from the esteemed Mithtibai College in Mumbai.  

Career 

The queen of soap operas entered the television scenes at the tender age of seventeen with advertisement and feature filmmaker, Kailash Surendranath, with whom she interned for learning the basics of the industry. 

She ventured into the field of television on her own with financial aid from her father, starting Balaji Telefilms. However, the initial years of her journey were a messy road, not concluding in anything of much success until 1995. The year proved to be the start of her trail upward and forth, when three of her shows were selected by popular channels, and Hum Panch- an Indian sitcom gave her the first taste of success.  

The year 2000s saw her association with the titles beginning with K becoming her charm for success, bringing her name, fame, and highest TRPs of the time. 

Her career took a turn on television with serials Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kabhii Suatnan Kbhii Saheli, Kalash, Kasauti Zindagii Kay, Kasamh Se becomes massive hits among the Indian housewives who were the major part of her audience then. 

With the evolution of TV, she also embarked on film production with Balaji Motion Pictures in 2001, with Kyunki ….Main Jhoot Nahi Bolta. 

Expanding her horizon beyond one form of content, and serving a niche audience, Kapoor spread her wings into content suitable for all age groups and available on contemporary platforms and that is how AltBalaji came into being. 

ALTBalaji is a video streaming platform with original content produced by Ekta Kapoor and also hosts content from other filmmakers. 

She also started her media training school, the Institute of Creative Excellence in 2012. 

Assets and Networth 

The Joint managing director of Balaji Telefilms has an estimated net worth of hundred crores with assets worth eighty plus crore, including a luxurious flat in Mumbai, Balaji Telefilms Office, and her personal investments. 

Ekta Kapoor has earned herself titles like the ‘Czarina of Television’, and the ‘Queen of Indian Television’ with her unwavering determination and persistent ability to evolve with time, which has kept her shows relevant and resonating with the audience despite the shifting socio-economic circumstances.
