Farmers hold BJP leaders hostage inside a temple, Miscreants attack MP's car

Some locals of a village in Rohtak District of Haryana held some BJP leaders, including a former state minister, hostage inside a temple. The leaders had gone to watch the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi live from Kedarnath Dham and the locals had decided not to let the leaders inside the village because of the three contentious farm laws.

BJP leaders held hostage

The incident took place when the former state minister Manish grover along with some BJP leaders visited a temple in Kiloi Village of Rohtak District at around 10 am. On becoming aware of this, the villagers reached the temple and blocked the main entrance. The ‘hostages’ were released after 5:30 pm when senior administrative and police officers pacified the villagers.

Some villagers justified their action by saying that the leaders of Saffron party came to the village despite knowing that the party leaders weren’t allowed in the vollage over the three contentious farm laws.

“They do not go to mandis (grain market) to check procurement of paddy or wheat but visit temples to create division in society,” said a villager.

An official informed that the incident took place because of some “misunderstandings” and that the BJP leaders were released after holding talks with the villagers.

“The matter was resolved as soon as villagers understood the reality,” he said and added that he neither apologised to anyone nor was it a serious matter.

Attack on MP Car

In another incident the farmers allegedly smashed the front windshield of BJP MP Ram Chander Jagra’s car when he visited Narnaund town in Hisar district. Luckily, no one got injured during the incident but the minister described it as an attempt to murder.

Jagra’s car was smashed as some wrongdoers threw lathis on his vehicle. The programmes of Haryana’s ruling BJP and Jannayak Janta Party government are being opposed by the farmers who are protesting against the three contentious farm laws.

Police also informed that some protestors carrying black flag blocked the way of Jagra’s car, but they were cleared later to allow the Rajya Sabha MP to proceed.

“After concluding my programme, I was on my way to attend another function when some miscreants threw lathis on my car, leaving it damaged. No one was hurt,” Jagra informed the media persons.

Jagra further informed that two have been arrested in connection to the incident and said, "I spoke to Haryana DGP and the SP regarding this incident. I have demanded strict punishment as per law against the culprits. This is a clear murder attempt."
