G7 Summit: PM Modi Arrives in Italy, Will Meet Justin Trudeau To Address Ongoing Conflict

PM Modi in Italy: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has travelled to Italy to attend the G-7 summit. This will be India’s 11 participation, and Prime Minister Modi’s fifth. PM Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are expected to meet on Friday to discuss issues affecting the global south, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra confirmed PM Modi’s meeting with Italian Prime Minister and host Giorgia Meloni, while also stating that the list of bilateral meetings is still being finalized. 

PM Modi to Meet Canadian PM

India has consistently stated that the main issue in bilateral relations is the support given to pro-Khalistan elements in Canada. Apart from that, pro-Khalistan groups have threatened Indian diplomats on several occasions. Kwatra said, “We have repeatedly conveyed our concerns to them and we expect strong action from them.”
