Golden Globes:  the 81st edition of the Golden Globes awards was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The awards celebrate the best in American and international TV and films every year recognising them in many categories. And the results of the awards ceremony are out where the list of winners has been dominated by ‘Succession’, Oppenheimer took home the award for best Directorial, and ‘Barbie’ won in a new category for ‘Outstanding Cinematic and Box Office Achievement’.  

Nominations 

The 20th-century twist on the doll, ‘Barbie’ had nine nominations in its pocket becoming the movie with the most nominations in film, and on the TV front ‘Succession’ has the most nomination. Oppenheimer was right behind ‘Barbie’ with a total of eight nominations. 

The most nominated shows with five nominations were ‘The Bear’ and ‘Only Murderers in the Building’   

Winners 

Emma Stone’s performance for ‘Poor Things’ won her, her second Golden Globes trophy. 

Christopher Nolan’s craftsmanship with the lens won him the Best Director of the Motion Picture for his biography of Oppenheimer. The movie also won in the category of supporting actor in a motion picture won by Robert Downey Jr. 

Greta Gregwig received the award for ‘Outstanding Cinematic and Box Office Achievement’ for her movie ‘Barbie’ which ruled the theaters in 2023.   

‘Beef’ actor Steven Yeon took home his first Globe award for Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television. His co-actor Ali Wong from Beef also bagged the same award for the Female category. 

‘Succession’ won the Globes for Best TV Drama Series with three more wins for the cast member making it a total of four, and ‘The Bear’ won the Best TV Series in the Musical or Comedy category, Anatomy of the Fall bagged Best non-English language motion picture and the best-animated film was won by ‘the Boy and the Heron.’
