The Finance Ministry announced the April 2023 tax collection data on Monday. It stated that the GST revenue for April 2023 climbed by 12% annually to reach Rs 1.87 lakh crore. This is the most GST revenue that has ever been gathered, taking a single month as an example. The announcement has also made Prime Minister Narendra Modi quite pleased.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his happiness to the countrymen by tweeting. When the Central Government implemented GST in July 2017, it had set a target of collecting more than Rs 1.50 lakh crore every month. It seems to be getting fulfilled now. On Monday i.e. May 1, the tax collection figures for April, 2023 were released by the Finance Ministry. The ministry said that the gross GST collection in April stood at Rs 1,87,035 crore. In this, the central CGST was Rs 38,440 crore while the state SGST was Rs 47,412 crore.
