08 Dec, 2022

In Gujarat Election 2022, BJP has achieved a one-sided majority. But Congress has suffered a huge loss of seats. While on the other hand Aam Aadmi Party is ahead in 5 to 6 seats. Even after such a low number of seats, Aam Aadmi Party has got an advantage. After the vote percentage he got in this election, Aam Aadmi Party has become National Party. And it has happened after a long time that a party that has emerged from a state is becoming a national party.

Conditions for becoming a national party

A party won two percent of the seats in the Lok Sabha elections in three states. In addition to four Lok Sabha seats, a party must secure at least six per cent of the votes in the Lok Sabha or at least six per cent of the votes polled in four or more states in assembly elections. A party should be recognized as a regional party in four or more states. In the year 2019, NPP got the status of being a national party on the basis of this condition. Now it is estimated that after the results of Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party will also fulfill this condition. The party which fulfills even one of these conditions gets the status of a national party.
