Hair Care: Easy & Effective Tips For Long, Strong and Healthy Hair

04 Feb, 2025

Hair Care: During the winter, both skin and hair grow dry, necessitating proper maintenance. Many individuals ask how frequently they should oil their hair and which oils are ideal for hair growth. However, oiling is not the only factor that influences hair development; otherwise, baldness would not exist. A common mistake people make after washing their hair is using conditioner on the roots rather than the strands. Hair contains three layers: an exterior cuticle, a cortex, and a medulla. The cuticle is relatively rough. Conditioners function by smoothing the cuticle, but excessive treatments such as straightening, bonding, or hair botox can weaken the hair over time. While these methods make the hair look lustrous, they might thin the roots and cause hair loss. So, conditioners should only be applied to the hair strands.

Is Oiling Your Hair Important?

Oiling should be done cautiously, especially if you have an oily scalp or dandruff. Excessive oiling can exacerbate scalp issues and possibly cause facial outbreaks. Coconut oil remains the greatest solution, removing the need for more expensive alternatives such as Moroccan oil. While oiling enhances hair texture, true growth is dependent on peptide-based serums or medicated treatments such as minoxidil, which should only be taken with medical supervision. Many people buy hair growth products because of social media influence, but it is always a good idea to visit a dermatologist before taking any medicated treatments.
