Heartbeat 2023 Review: Ok Taec-yeon and Won Ji-An Starring Romantic Drama is a Mix of Love, Fantasy and Humanity

Korean Drama Heartbeat 2023: In recent times, vampire movies and series have taken over the entertainment industry globally. The new Korean Drama Heartbeat is one such series that has not only created a shift in the genre and plot, but also portrayed love between a vampire and a human, and is winning audiences with its enthralling story of love and compassion. This new Korean romantic comedy series, which stars actor and member of the South Korean boy band 2 PM Ok Taec-yeon together with Won Ji-an, Park Kang-hyun, and Yoon So-hee, centers on Woo-hyul’s search for love and a beating heart.

Heartbeat K-Drama Review

Heartbeat, which has vampires that are centuries old and attempts to blend in while navigating contemporary Seoul, offers a forward-looking perspective. When Woo-Hyul awakens from a planned 100-year sleep, he undergoes to convert into a human one day sooner than intended, he too changes from being a vampire to a half-human half-vampire.

Seon Woo-hyul, played by Ok Taec-yeon, is an unusual character who is half-human and half-vampire, and the K-drama centers around his existence. Unexpectedly, Woo-hyul moves in with Joo In-hae, a character noted for her icy demeanour and played by Won Ji-an. Their friendship develops into a passionate and deep love as they spend more time together, bringing warmth and joy into their lives.

Heartbeat K-Drama Plot, Cast, Release Date

In the first two episodes, we also see Woo-hyul attempting to eat garlic and continuously pleading with the gods to fulfil his one request in his quest to become a human. He also exposes himself to intense sunlight. Talking about Woo-Hyul’s love interest Joo In-hae, played by actor Won Ji-an, she is portraying a character who is putting up with a generally meaningless work and falling for her corrupt landlord’s deception, only making things worse. Analysing the first two episodes, the series is surely an another full fledged drama with a rollercoaster of emotions.

South Korean television series Heartbeat debuted on KBS2 on June 26, 2023, airing every Monday and Tuesday at 21:45 (KST) and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in some regions.
