Iconic Kdrama Villians: While we were already suffering from the second-lead syndrome, the latest Kdramas have given us another longing feeling of being the devil’s girl! Giving a tough competition to the hot male leads, Kdrama villains have taken fans on another level of yearning for their evil-minded personality that perfectly compliments their too-hot-to-handle gaze and dominance! The anti-hero mindset of Kdrama fans has gotten to the point where we frequently root for the female lead to end up with the villain. K-Drama has given us a unique type of villain: powerful, ruthless, charming, and irresistible. Let’s take a look at some Kdrama villains who made us fall in love with them more than the male leads because of their alluring sinfulness.
The ongoing thriller Netflix series has unlocked a new crush for K-drama fans in the form of Ryu Shi-oh, played by Byeon Woo-Seok, the charismatic and menacing villain with that oh-so-good persona. Viewers are more focused on Ryu Shi than the two main leads Gang Nam-soon (Lee Yoo-mi) and Gan Hee-sik (Ong Seong-Wu). Woo-Seok is portraying a manipulative and ruthless drug lord, with an ulterior motive of becoming most powerful. Most viewers are watching the show just for Ryu Shi-oh’s dark and intense gazes and the way he effortlessly commands attention on the screen.
The 2 PM Kpop band member has made critically acclaimed recognition by his acting skills in several Kdramas, including the most recent ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Save Me’, ‘Blind’, and one of his best performances as a maniac villain in the popular Kdrama ‘Vincenzo’. Taecyeon portrayed two different characters as Jang Jun-woo, on one side he was a mere intern in a law firm under Hong Cha-young (Jeon Yeo-been) as he was obsessed with his senior. His other side as a sociopath villain was seen later in the series, shocking fans who went crazy over his breathtaking and bone-chilling screen presence, making him one of the hottest and most powerful kdrama villains.
Itaewon Class has so far one of the most alluring casts in the kdrama industry. The series featured Park Seo-joon, Kim Da-mi, Park Bo-gum, Lee Joo-young, and last but not least Ahn Bo Hyun. Despite this ensemble cast and fan-favourite Park Seo-joon in the lead role, fans were unintentionally pulled towards Ahn Bo Hyun’s villainous character Jang Geun-won. Bo Hyun played the role of a spoiled and arrogant CEO driven by revenge. It was despicable and fascinating to watch him being the bully who made people suffer.
There is a separate fan base for each and every scene of the Tale of The Nine Tailed series, a supernatural and fantasy Kdrama with captivating characters including Lee Dong-wook, Jo Bo-ah, Kim Bum, Lee Tae-ri, and others. Among them is the seductive and dark antagonist Kim Bum as Lee Rang, who played the role of Lee Yeon’s (Dong-wook) brother. Kim Bum’s transformation into the malevolent fox spirit Lee Rang who is driven by a thirst for power and a desire for revenge, was both dangerous and satisfying to watch. And that damn smirk he gave made fans dizzy.
Viewers were head over heels for Kim Ji-Hoon’s character Baek Hee-sung. The actor looked ravishingly hot in his oh-so-good man bun. The series portrays the psychopathic character of Ji-hoon with a number of dramatic twists as Baek Hee Sung’s real identity is revealed, his past crimes, his maniac devilish intentions, and his transformation into the main villain of the show.
