The plot opens with the mysterious death of Ranjeet Dobriyal (Ranjeet) during his 100th birthday celebration on a yacht. Following his death, it was reported that he left a whopping fortune of 69 billion pounds to his son Jolly. But here’s the twist: Three guys claim to be Jolly: Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan), and Julius (Akshay Kumar). What follows is a funny rollercoaster ride as the three attempt to prove their identities while secrets, lies, and surprises unfold. The central mystery: Who is the real Jolly? And who committed the murder?—keeps the viewer interested until the end.
The three “Jollys” — Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan — are the film’s standout performers, with their comic timing and chemistry holding the plot together. Veteran actors Nana Patekar, Johny Lever, and Chunky Panday contribute their own style of humour, while the cop duo Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff add a hilarious dynamic to the mix. The female leads, including Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others, play more than just their glamorous roles in the comedy situations.
Sajid Nadiadwala's story combines slapstick humour with a murder mystery, maintaining a light tone while providing enough twists to keep readers interested. The film’s narrative relies largely on situational comedy, smart banter, and nostalgic appearances from the franchise. Director Tarun Mansukhani expertly controls the film’s big ensemble, retaining excitement and chaos throughout while keeping the plot on track.
Housefull 5 is loud, vibrant, and unabashedly maddening. This film succeeds in providing a light-hearted respite and a few hours of nonstop laughs. Housefull 5 receives 3.5 stars for delivering laughter, a bit of intrigue, and a cast that totally commits to the chaos.
