Most of our parents grew up in India, where mental health was fraught with stigma. As a result, discussing your mental health issues with your parents may appear to be a daunting task. Language and generational barriers are also obstacles. Ayushi Khemka, founder of Mental Health Talks in India, explains how to start a healthy conversation about mental health with your family.
You will mess up- Well talking about mental health and opening about the same to your parents might not be a smooth sail. You will mess up to express your feelings but stand firm.
Be Patient- You have to be patient too. As things might not go as you think or parents will also take time to understand your condition and situation.
Share Resources- explain with the videos and other resources on how this is not something taboo and most people are going through the same.
It's not going to be an easy battle so don’t let your guards down and keep calm and believe.
It's going to be a long journey.
It will be exhausting but you need to simmer your courage to reach the goal and make your parents believe in you.
