Iceland Volcano: Volcanic Eruption in Reykjanes Peninsula Spreading Rapidly, Authorities On Alert

Iceland Volcano: A major volcanic eruption has occurred in the Reykjanes Peninsula of southwestern Iceland, causing widespread panic. This volcanic eruption occurred after a series of earthquakes over the last few weeks. A large area has been covered in lava and smoke as a result of the volcanic eruption. Even before the Reykjanes peninsula’s volcanic eruption, the administration had evacuated approximately 4,000 people to safer locations. Continuous seismic activity has been felt in this area in recent days, prompting geologists to express concern about a volcanic eruption.

Authorities On Alert

According to reports, the volcanic eruption began north of Grindavik. The volcano’s lava and ash are spreading far and wide. It is said that a 3.5 km long crack inside the ground is spewing out 100 to 200 cubic meters of lava per second. The Reykjanes peninsula has seen several eruptions in recent years, according to the authorities, but this eruption may pose a threat to the city of Grindavik. Over the previous two months, hundreds of earthquakes had struck the area, but in recent weeks, the intensity had decreased.
