New Delhi: India introduces 3 new vaccines for combating the COVID-19 in the country. Drug regulator Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) recently gave nod to Serum Institute of India's vaccine Covovax, Biological E's jab Corbevax and anti-Covid pill Molnupiravir. These vaccines are to be used in emergency situations.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday made the official announcement in this regard, This comes a day after the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on COVID-19 of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) recommended granting emergency use authorisation (EUA) to the COVID-19 vaccines Covovax and Corbevax.
The committee had also granted restricted emergency use approval to the drug Molnupiravir. Molnupiravir is used for the treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have a high risk of progression of the virus.
