India lagged behind China in the matter of Electric Vehicles, know what is the reason

18 May, 2023

According to a New York Times report, more EVs are expected to be sold in China alone than the world's this year. Nearly half of the world's top EV brands are also from China.EVs account for 5% of total new car sales in the US. It was acquired by China in 2018 itself. According to a report by Team BHP, electric car sales were only 0.7% of total car sales in India in FY 2021-22. That is, electric, which is the future for most countries of the world, is the present for China's auto market.

China is the world's largest and fastest growing EV market. Its EV sales are expected to double this year i.e. in 2022 to reach around 6 million vehicles. This is more than the number of EVs sold in the whole world. Not only this, half of the world's top-10 best-selling EV brands are Chinese. This year, 25% of all new cars bought in China will be fully electric or plug-in hybrid.
