Indian Aviation Industry Reaching Heights, Know Development Perspectives and Future Opportunities

Indian Aviation Growth:  The aviation sector in the nation is expanding at an incredible rate. In the last year alone, four new airports and four new terminals have opened, bringing the total number of operational civil airports in India to 149, which is double what it was ten years ago. There are nine more airports planned and nine more that have been approved. There is also a second airport for the capital emerging in Jewar, which is 75 km from Delhi. By 2040, officials expect to have 15 cities with two airports. Mumbai may get a third airport, according to rumors.

 

$800 Billion Industry

According to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s domestic air travel increased 10.78 percent in October 2023 compared to the same month the previous year. Under the UDAN Scheme, the government is planning to build 100 airports by 2024 and to invest $1.83 billion in airport infrastructure development by 2026. So far, 74 airports have been built, and over 2.15 million UDAN flights have flown, benefiting over 1.1 million passengers.
