Indian Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu bags the first Silver medal for the country after lifting 87kg in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk

Mirabai Chanu at Tokyo Olympics 2020:

Indian Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu performs well, and bags the first Silver Medal for the country after lifting 87kg successfully in the snatch and 115  kg at the clean and jerk, making it a total of 202 kg at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Mirabai struggles to lift the 89 kg and hence was placed second after snatch while China’s HOU Zhihu lifted 94 kg in snatch and 116 kg in clean and jerk, and creates an Olympic record.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is representing India in the Weightlifting Women's 49 kg category at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, and bags the second position on Saturday.
 
As per the reports, the Indian weightlifter has performed brilliantly in Group A of 49 kg weightlifting. Chanu is leading in the snatch by lifting 87 kg while in clean and jerk with 115 kg, thereby making it a total of 202 (87+115) kg. She missed in the third attempt. In this way, her result has been a total of 87 kg in the snatch. With this, Mirabai Chanu of India has won a silver medal in 49kg category.
