Is Haryana's Manohar government in trouble? Indications from BJP-JJP contesting separately

29 May, 2022

Everything is not going well between BJP and JJP in Haryana. The announcement of Haryana BJP President is indicating this. Regarding the civic elections, State BJP President OP Dhankar has announced that BJP will not fight the civic elections in alliance but alone. In Haryana, BJP is running a coalition government with Dushyant Chautala's party JJP.

The BJP took this decision in the state-level meeting going on for two days in Hisar. This decision of BJP is a big setback for JJP and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, who is involved in the Haryana government, who have been talking about fighting civic elections together with BJP.

BJP President on the news

Haryana BJP President OP Dhankhar said on Saturday evening after the two-day meeting in Hisar ended that the party would fight the civic polls alone instead of an alliance. According to Dhankhar, the BJP will contest the elections in the city councils on the party symbol. Whether or not to contest elections on the party symbol in municipalities will be decided by the party unit of the district concerned. Haryana BJP meeting will be held on June 1 in Panchkula regarding the civic polls, in which further strategy will be made.

Earlier, the BJP's state executive meeting, which was going on for two days in Hisar, ended on Saturday evening. In this meeting held at GJU's Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Auditorium, in the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal, all the BJP leaders brainstormed on various issues including civic elections. Apart from reviewing party programs in the meeting, the outline of new programs was also discussed. All the ministers and leaders including Home Minister Anil Vij attended this meeting.

Party wanted it for a long time

The BJP has not taken the decision to go alone in the civic polls, the party's MLAs had been demanding it for a long time. Ever since allegations of alleged scams in the JJP quota departments began to surface, BJP legislators raised the issue of impact on the government's image in party meetings vigorously. BJP has a zero tolerance policy against corruption. In such a situation, many MLAs were speaking before CM Manohar Lal, State in-charge Vinod Tawde, Organisation General Secretary Ravindra Raju etc.

If the BJP fields a candidate on the same Rajya Sabha seat, then it will not need the support of the JJP MLAs. BJP has 40 MLAs and to win one seat only 31 MLAs are needed. In the event of fielding a candidate in the second seat, there will be a need to break into 10 JJP MLAs, 6 Independents, one Halopa and Congress MLAs. Since, some MLAs are preparing to revolt when outside candidates come to Congress.
