Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day 2019 celebrations on Thursday. During this, Gadkari said that the government is considering creating a portal like Alibaba, so that MSMEs can get a big and open market. Consumers will be able to buy their favorite items on this portal.
Gadkari said, “It is our endeavor that in the coming few years, MSMEs contribute 50% to the country's GDP, which is currently 29%. We will ensure that more than 15 crore youth get employment in this sector. Presently 11.1 crore people are employed in this sector.
