Jammu-Kashmir News: Heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides struck Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban area early Sunday, killing three people and wreaking havoc across the region. More than 100 villagers were evacuated from flood-damaged areas due to quick response of authorities. Officials conformed that a cloudburst hit Seri Bagna village in Ramban, killing three people.
According to officials, the constant rain caused landslides and mudslides in almost a dozen locations along the important Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, forcing traffic to be halted. The flash flood in Dharam Kund village caused damage to around 40 residential houses. More than 100 trapped villagers were rescued by police officers who rushed to the scene despite the constant rain and cloudbursts, according to officials. Several vehicles were carried away in the flood created by an overflowing stream.
