‘Jay Siya Ram’ UK’s PM Rishi Sunak attends Ram Katha stating he is there as a Hindu and not as PM

UK’s PM Rishi Sunka reportedly attended the Ramayan Recitation session at Cambridge by University by the spiritual leader Morari Bapu. The Conservative party leader who was recently elected as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom asserted that he was there to attend the ‘Ram Katha’ being a Hindu and not the PM. Rishi Sunak in a statement said "It is truly an honour and pleasure to be here today at Morari Bapu's Ram Kahtha at the University of Cambridge on Indian Independence Day. Bapu, I am here today not as a Prime Minister but as a Hindu,". The unversed Sunak follows Hinduism with Punjabi roots.

Starting with the ‘Jay Siya Ram’ chant, he stressed the role religion and faith played in his life and remarked that he strives to lead in accordance with what the Hindu scriptures have instructed leaders to do. In the following statement, Sunak went on to say that faith is something very personal and Lord Rama will always remain an Inspirational figure to him when comes to facing life's struggles and challenges with strength, courage, justice, selflessness, and dignity.

A report claimed that this is probably the first Hindu event to be held at Cambridge University. On the other hand, Morari Bapu is the Indian spiritual master, a native of Gujarat, a well-known Ramayana exponent, and has been leading Ram Kathas all over the world for more than 50 years. 

Later Sunak said Pointing towards the golden lord Hanuman during the Ram Katha that it reminds him of his Golden Ganesha, "Golden Ganesha sits gleefully on my desk at 10 Downing Street". He further added "It is a constant reminder to me about listening and reflecting on issues before acting'.



Sunak later highlighted the strong presence of fellow immigrants in the Katha event, referencing his own family's history. He pointed out that a notable segment of the audience had ancestral ties to India and East Africa, where their predecessors arrived in the UK with limited means. Despite the challenges, they showed unwavering determination and succeeded in advancing socially and economically.
