The story at the beginning might look like the lead stars are juggling between childhood and the present. However, it is not what it looks like. The drama starts with Han Jun Hee played by Jeon Yeo- been grieving over the loss of his boyfriend Koo Yeon Jun, who passed away in a plane crash. In the same episode, an alternate timeline can be witnessed highlighting the year 1998, when Kwon Min Ju played by Jeon Yeo-been meets Nam Si Heon (Ahn Yeo Seop) and his friend In-Gyu. 

Kwon Min Ju has a crush on Im Si Heon however the latter has zero interest in her since his friend In-Gyu is interested in Min Ju and also Si Heon doesn’t find her suitable for him. Coming to the year 2023, Jun Hee struggles to forget her late boyfriend and keeps on crying on her birthday when suddenly she receives a gift, The gift is an old broken cassette player. As she tunes in, Jun Hee time travels back to 1998 and wakes up in a hospital, The man she finds near her bed resembles her late boyfriend Yeon Jun but he actually describes him as Nam Si Heon. Not much later, she finds out she is in the year 1998 and in the body of Kwon Min Ju, who actually died in the same year. 

She keeps on talking about Yeon Jun and her life in 2023 to everyone but no one seems to believe her, people find her intriguing now that her personality has changed from timid and sensitive Kwon Min Ju to Bold and lively Han Jun Hee. Nam Si Won slowly starts falling for her. Meanwhile, Han Jun Hee keeps time traveling back and forth between present and past to decode the mystery.

Time takes a small leap in the 1998 story and Nam Si Heon meets with an accident after returning to Korea from the States only to find that In Gyu is still serving in Min Ju’s murder case and later commits suicide. In the hospital, Nam Si Heon's soul wakes up in Koo Yeon Jun's body in the present. He was told that he met an accident while he was on his way with his friend and unfortunately, his friend didn’t survive. Nam Si-Heon quickly realizes, that this is the same Yeon Jun, Jun Hee was talking about back in 1998.

Determined to meet her again, he meets Kwon Min Ju’s uncle who used to run the cassette store, and plans to repeat the story of how Jun-hee and Yeon Jun met in the college and started living again until the day came when Yeon Jun flight had to crash.

Later in a surprising turn of events, it was revealed that Si-Heon’s character was actually planning all this in his original body where his one leg was damaged because of the accident when he returned to Korea. His character meets Jun Hee in the present and explains everything. Both, pledges to change the ending and let Min Ju and In Gyu live in the 1998 case. 

Min Jin Woong’s character Oh Chan Yeong plays the antagonist who later kills Nam Si Heon in 2023 and attacks Jun Hee, after realizing that he can travel back to his brother’s body from 1998. After losing his love again, Jun Hee makes sure to travel past and change everything once and for all. 

However, the ending is not as simple as you think. When she time travels again, Jun Hee gets stuck where Min Ju used to be and the latter wakes up in her own body. She tries hard to imitate Jun hee’s personality which everyone was drawn to but fails miserably. On the other hand Si-Heon from 1998 quickly finds out that she is not the one he fell in love with and starts believing in Han Jun Hee’s story.

Frustrated by all of this Min Ju tries to take her own life, but she later plans on getting murdered by someone so that everyone remembers her through history. Jun-hee tries hard to convince her but she denies it. After waking up in the present, Jun Hee waves goodbye to 2023 and everything with her and Yeon Jun, as she knows once she changes the past, the future won’t be the same and travels back to the past where she manages to save Min Ju.

She asks Si-Heon to find her in whichever timeline she may be and asks In Gyu to destroy the cassette. Upon returning everything vanishes. There were no more Han Jun Hee and Koo Yeon Jun

No, Yeon Jun died in the first episode only, the person who continued the story was Nam Si Heon who time-traveled in Yeon Jun’s body to meet Han Jun Hee.
